Casa dos Vinhais Douro Valley

At Casa dos Vinhais Douro Valley - a century-old house full of history and stories - we want you to enjoy more than the magnificent landscape that surrounds it. We want you to feel at home, without schedules. More than a visitor, a friend. And that you have unique sensations, whether they are achieved by a simple walk among vineyards, a boat or kayak ride, a wine dinner contemplating the river, a picnic, picking oranges or the simple pleasure of reading on one of our balconies. The experiences are ours. The emotions are yours.

"The most there is in the world is landscape, frames that frame our sensations, bindings of what we think."

Fernando Pessoa

Perfect choice

We booked Casa Dos Vinhais for a special birthday celebration and it was the perfect choice. We really enjoyed the house and its history, and took advantage of the beautiful views of the Douro. The host is what makes this property really special - he went out of his way to make our stay and the birthday celebration itself perfect. We cannot describe enough the amazing breakfasts, and we loved the recommendations - we even visited a Quinta and had a wine tasting. Thank you to Casa Dos Vinhais for a wonderful trip.

A unique experience

The photos do not do Casa dos Vinhais justice, the peace and tranquility it offers is second to none. The host was fantastic, sharing his family home of over 100 years and doing everything to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The breakfast he prepares is generous and tasty, and the dinner he offers is something not to be missed! The house itself is like stepping back in time, a unique experience. If you are thinking of spending time in the Douro and want to take a walk outside the usual routes, this is the right place! Perfect in every way! Thank you very much!

Fantastic

The host is wonderful and a very good cook. The breakfasts were excellent and we had a dinner prepared with local ingredients and family recipes. He organized an excursion to a winery, which we reached by boat. He also made reservations at an excellent restaurant, which we also reached by boat. We found the experience relaxing after days of hectic travel around Spain.

Highly Recommend

Casa dos Vinhais is a wonderful authentic Portuguese experience in the Douro Valley.Three furnished decks offer you ample places to gather or relax outside and enjoy the spectacular views. The Host prepared us a delicious dinner, accompanied by regional wines and port, and shared many stories about the house and the region. It is something not to be missed! He also prepared breakfast every morning, enticing us with a wide variety of local foods. A great way to start the day. He organised a great boat ride to a restaurant for dinner. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and relaxed. We highly recommend this host and cottage in the Douro valley!!!
